It was reported that the WB Approves $800 million for Power, HR in Pakistan. This is going to bolster the policy implementation and power sector problem resolution in Pakistan.
These approvals are for the the Pakistan Program for Affordable and Clean Energy (PACE) and Second Securing Human Investments to Foster Transformation (SHIFT II).
The development objective of PACE is to reduce the circular debt flow through
(i) reducing power generation costs
(ii) de-carbonizing the energy mix
(iii) improving efficiency in distribution and re-targeting electricity subsides.
The development objectives of SHIFT II are to
(i) strengthen Civil Registration and Vital Statistics, health and education systems essential for Human Capital (HC) accumulation
(ii) recognize the contribution of women to economic productivity
(iii) improve national safety nets to respond to shocks in a more efficient manner.
As the WB approves $800 million for Power and HR, Pakistan is trying to accelerate its economy.
