Pakistan Cement Sales Increased in August by 22.8% as total cement despatches stood at 4.34 million tons (last: 3.53 million), mainly due to the continued increase in construction business.
According the All Pakistan Cement Manufacturers Association (APCMA), domestic cement despatches during the month increased by 36% to 3.81 million tons (last: 2.81 million tons). Exports despatches declined by 28.2% to 521,468 tons (last: 726,687 tons).
The price of cement rose mainly due to an increase in the landed price of coal that was around Rs. 18,000 per ton in August 2018 which now is Rs. 31,500 per ton, electricity rates rising from Rs. 11.68 per unit to Rs. 19.40 per unit, packing material, provincial taxes and fuel prices, which all have gone up.
