Pakistan’s cotton production target was revised downward by the Cotton Crop Assessment Committee (CCAC) by 19.5%, from 10.5 million bales set for FY22 to 8.46 million bales, after missing the sowing target by 13.4%.
The CCAC meeting was Chaired by Syed Fakhar Imam, Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, with cotton growers, provincial agriculture departments, associations also attended the meeting. The sowing target was originally set at 2.31 million hectares which was however achieved at 1.87 million hectares. Punjab cultivated 1.28 million hectares against the target of 1.610 million hectares, Sindh was projected to cultivate cotton on 0.64 million hectares, but 0.59 million hectares were cultivated, Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan were projected to cultivate cotton on 0.0022 million hectares and 0.070 million hectares, respectively.
