China said that it has offered Kazakhstan support in security. China said it is is willing to increase “law enforcement and security” cooperation with Kazakhstan and help oppose interference by “external forces”.
Wang Yi, China’s senior politician and former foreign minister said this to Kazakhstan’s foreign minister Mukhtar Tileuberdi, according to the Chinese foreign ministry.
The foreign ministry said, “Recent turmoil in Kazakhstan shows that the situation in Central Asia is still facing severe challenges, and it once again proves that some external forces do not want peace and tranquillity in our region”. Government buildings in Kazakhstan were earlier captured in several cities as peaceful protests against fuel price increases turned violent.
