India Admits Its Accident in Missile Fiasco

India Accidental Missile Fire into Pakistan

India admitted on 11th March 2022, that it had supposedly ‘accidentally’ fired a Bhramos supersonic missile due to ‘technical malfunction’ on 9th March 2022, which changed its trajectory and crossed into Pakistan. The missile landed in a field in Mian Channu, Punjab, Pakistan.

Pakistan strongly protested this irresponsible behavior of the Indian armed forces, and demanded a joint probe. Pakistan rightly said that this supposed accident could have stated a nuclear war. Pakistan also cited the faulty security technology currently in use by the Indian armed forces. Furthermore, India violated agreements by not informing of this test and coming into the exclusion zones of the tests.

The missile was being tracked by the Pakistan Air Force long before it entered Pakistan airspace – Pakistan knew that the missile was unarmed hence did not retaliate. Pakistan has brought this to the attention of the UNSC members, the IAEA and other international organizations.

The missile flew for a total of 6 and a half minutes, of which it was in Pakistan airspace for almost 3 and a quarter minutes.
