The IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva said that the global economic outlook has “darkened significantly” and could deteriorate further. She cited the Ukraine conflict as a reason for rising inflation, supply disruption and widespread hunger and poverty. Recently the IMF revised downwards the global growth forecast for 2022 / 23 to 3.6%.
She said the following: poorest will be hit the hardest, risk of “social instability” was also increasing, inflation has complicated policy making, reducing debt is an urgent necessity.
