India became the latest country to evacuate its Embassy from Afghanistan, as the security situation was reportedly deteriorating. This ‘deterioration’ is termed such, with the Taliban gaining ground following the withdrawal of US forces. 50 Indian personnel, including six diplomats, were taken back to India.
The Indian foreign ministry said staff had been temporarily pulled from its consulate in southern Kandahar, where the Taliban were fighting with Afghan forces.
A week prior to the Indian pullout, Russia moved more than 200 of its staff out of Afghanistan.
