Pakistan’s Prime Minister Imran Khan won the vote of confidence by securing 178 votes from the 341 member National Assembly. The Opposition boycotted the activity. This came at the heels of the senate seat election loss of the Finance Minister Abdul Hafeez Shaikh against the opposition’s joint candidate Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani on the seat from Islamabad.
The Prime Minister Khan succeeded in securing 178 votes – six more than the required 172 simple majority – in voting on a motion as per the second schedule rules 35, 36 and 37 followed by a resolution adopted by the House with the same 178 votes.
