Pakistan said that it is going to provide Rs. 5 billion relief goods and humanitarian assistance to Afghanistan. This came in light of the recent shortages in Afghanistan that have come about due to the freezing of Afghan funds by the US government. The relief includes edibles, 50,000 MT of wheat, emergency medical supplies, winter shelters, and other supplies.
This decision was taken in the Afghanistan Inter Ministerial Coordination Cell (“AICC”) presided over by Prime Minister Imran Khan and attended by Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Advisor on Finance Shaukat Fayaz Tarin, Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa, National Security Adviser Dr. Moeed Yusuf, and senior civil and military officers.
The PM directed ministries to help the Afghans, as much as is possible.
