Taliban Setup New Government Cabinet

The Taliban setup a new government Cabinet in Afghanistan. Senior Taliban Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund was declared the leader of cabinet. From Kandahar, he earlier was the governor of Kandahar in the 1990s. He was also the deputy foreign minister at one point is currently on the UN blacklist.

 

Taliban co-founder Abdul Ghani Baradar will be one of the two deputy leaders, with Abdul Salam Hanafi, a member of their political office in Doha, Qatar.

 

Mullah Yaqoob, the son of the Taliban founder and late supreme leader Mullah Omar, will be the Defense Minister, Sirajuddin Haqqani will be the Interior Minister.

 

The spokesman for the Taliban Zabihullah Mujahid said that this is an interim setup and the Taliban will try to take people from other parts of the country.
